The old guy and I did our 6km walk again today (day 3) and then I went down to the waterfront to see what is happening!

Picturesque don't you think???!!! I am tired of all the white and blue but down st the waterfront it takes on a totally different look!!

Okay so don't laugh, I had a couple of scary moments when unexpectedly the ice melted and splashed into the lake!

so I have been creating pen and alcohol marker portraits and thought I would have s go with a "selfie" in that medium. Oh boy...so many oopsies but I decided to persevere and press on. I thought blonde hair was difficult; well I found my own curly white/grey mop super difficult. I won't bore you with all my errors save for the most obvious, I didn't orient the eyes properly so I had to draw the rest of me cockeyed on the page.  Oh well, I've turned the page and moving on now... Platinum Carbon desk pen and ink and alcohol markers (Copic and Spectrum Noir).

The best thing I saw on our walk today. They were down in the ditch a bit but The old boy spotted them.  They are definitely new, they weren't out two days ago.

What I learned during the creation of this Sktchy inspired face is ..."know your paper"!!!!

The sketchbook paper couldn't handle the glazing I was attempting so I had to add freckles and couldn't add shadows.

Regardless, I had a good time even though I am less than satisfied with my results.

Stillman and Birn Epsilon sketchbook and watercolour and a teeny bit of Opera Rose gouache added to the watercolour for her hat

attempted to illustrate my perfume bottle.  It is a difficult one for me.  I used the brush first and then added pen marks. Lise Watier is a Canadian designer but when I checked her website this scent is no longer sold.  I used gouache in my yucky Stillman and Birn Gamma sketchbook.

I wanted to give a shout out to Amanda Harvey for the wonderful inspiration.

Okay so this doesn't look like her exactly but I did make a face that at least looks like she could be a real human being.  A bit of a fail really but I'm posting it anyway.  I made many mistakes and ended up redrawing her on another page.

I was going to clap gesso to cover her up but then I thought better of it! Not all of my portraits are going to be "bang on". In fact the second drawing isn't a true likeness but I have to say....I like this woman too!

To cover up as many mistakes as possible I used gouache in my Stillman and Birn Epsilon sketchbook.
