You can go home now

Here is another snippet from my mundane life!
Yup, I’m glad that is over and it is with relief I can add it to my journal.

We bought coffee

This is what happens when you go to the store for bread and milk and buy lots of everything else.  Like this expensive coffee from cottage county

Saving money

No prompt- Apparently our government isn’t going to put their hands in my wallet for the renewal of our licence plates (valtag). For me, it will be a savings of $120.00 per year since I only own one vehicle.  I think I’ll save it to buy some special inks when the weather warms up a bit in a couple of months.  I’m too nervous right now in case the ink gets frozen en route; I don’t think it would be good for it.  I decided to stuff my money in my mattress until May when I can finally spend it.
However, I do wish he would take my money and put it back into health care.  They could really use it after the last couple of years that we have had.

Sorry Elizabeth but I wasn’t focused on realistic drawings; just wanted to record the moment I got to keep some money from the government.

Malta

Yesterday’s page!  I had an appointment in town so I was in a rush then forgot to post.

I belong to Postcrossing because I love snail mail; receiving and sending.  There are so many places in the world to see and each postcard gives us a glimpse into exciting possibilities. We have decided that we definitely want to visit.

Colour Mixing

Colour mixing three “primaries”:Thalo Turquoise, Nickel Azo Yellow and Quinn Magenta.  This exercise was quite outside my comfort zone since this is an abstract piece with the focus on mixing paint colours.  It took me quite some time to finish.  I didn’t like all of the colours I mixed but I laid them down regardless.

I have to give a shout out to Tansy Hargan @palimpsestparade from IG for the inspiring class on mindful mixing.

Time for disrupters to go home

From a news release this morning from our Premier here in Ontario, he announced a “state of emergency” for our province to clear the bridge in Windsor and the streets in our nation’s capital.

I drew him while he spoke on tv and painted him up afterwards. I tried to add some of his poignant remarks.

Dry hands

Ugh! I hate when this happens!  I don’t like using hand lotion during the day because then I can’t draw or sew because of slippery fingers.  I try to remember to put some polysporin on them at night but then I forget.  I’ve just got to remember the next few nights.

Groundhog Day

It is Groundhog Day!!! Here in Ontario Wiarton Willie is our prognosticator.  I don’t know what the weather is like in Wiarton but here it is dull grey and snowing.  So there is hope that Wille will say that spring is near! (Oh I just checked and yes…we will have an early spring! Phew!!)

If you’re in Ontario, Wiarton is a nice town on the shores of Georgian Bay on the traditional territory of the Saugeen Ojibway nation.  We have been there in the summer and they have a lovely downtown with nice shops.  You can visit the statue of Willie at the park then enjoy a nice lunch at the pub that is located there.  They served refreshing local craft beer and other types of “beverages”.

I’m not sure how many groundhogs ago it was but Willie had been an albino which made him so special.
