Waiting for hummingbirds

My hubby hung this out yesterday but no one has been by yet except a chick-a-Dee

Yet another selfie Sunday

Toilet paper selfie for my “Selfie Sunday”!  Often I draw a selfie on Sunday, not each and every Sunday but almost.

We have warm sunshine here so I will spend the rest of the day outside.

My Sunday “selfie” inspiration comes courtesy of Carla Sonheim and my ode to COVID-19 toilet paper!

I remembered that I had this pipette stuck in with some pencils and gave her toilet paper faces “a go”!!  Quite simplistic and cartoonish but that is okay; it didn’t take me long.  This was my third try on old cheap watercolour paper! I wasn’t really looking for accuracy,  it isn’t really possible with a pipette!

The replacements

I’ve been lamenting the fact that we only have ONE tulip so my hubby brought home these potted ones!!!  Thanks hon, appreciate it!

I painted with watercolour first and added the pen afterwards.

Our maple trees are in “bloom”!!

What a beautiful sky it was this morning! I went out to have a look at the maple tree “flowers” that kind of look like umbrellas or maybe parachutes.

our maple trees are finally in “flower”!  All the time I have lived here I have never bothered to document this period of time in the growth of its spring leaves! I think it looks like a flowers or perhaps a hat or even a parachute!  I used watercolour and pencil crayons!

Dressing up during COVID 19

I don’t know about anyone else but I haven’t been dressing “up” while staying at home during this COVID 19 “season”!! Not that I follow the fashion industry but I was so happy to find the magazine text to complete my spread.

I used some handmade watercolours that I purchased on-Line; a happy moment when I found them in my mailbox at the end of our laneway.

Self-portrait Sunday

Happy Mother’s Day to all who’re mothers.  I still have willow charcoal from an art class I took at university.  Dug it out for today’s selfie.  I used some cheap mixed media paper I have and not a fan of it for this medium.  Oh well, another self portrait down. Need more practice with charcoal;I could have spent more time but I’ve got other projects to finish!

Grapefruit from Turkey

The other half of this page had the teacup on a green and white polka dotted tablecloth so I thought I’d carry that over to this page.

So happy that there were bags of grapefruit from Turkey at the grocery store last week.  My hubby can’t have them so they are ALL MINE!!  As a decadent indulgence, I added maple sugar flakes before I heated it up! Yum!

Pencil, ink and gouache in my handmade sketchbook.

Honey Crisp

I use my sketchbook to flesh out ideas for other projects outside of the sketchbook.  Here, I had put some leftover paint on the page from a previous project.  I’m almost finished this book so need to use each and every page so it determined my colour palette.  I think I will remake this and make it a mail art postcard.

Kuretake gold Watercolour, gouache, and gold acrylic ink in my handmade sketchbook.

Self Portrait Sunday

It’s another self-portrait Sunday and this is the way it was today!!! “Messy hair, don’t care” because we have had blue skies and lots of sunshine!!  My gratitude to Mother Nature!

Pentel brush pen (permanent - grey barrel) and gouache in my handmade sketchbook. Straight in with the pen, no pencil drawing.
