Fenceless Friday

Regrettably this is going to be a “Fenceless Friday” Post got this week.  On this beautiful hot day we started out the morning watching some dudes out fishing.   The fella in the canoe is just barely visible.  Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Silent Lake Provincial Park

Today’s cards! Everyone else went ti see a cottage so my Granddaughter and I stayed at the cabin and made our index card  art and played Clue! Now we are off for a swim in the lake!

I made a six pigment pocket palette from a new mint tin so I had to mix the darks and I used coloured pencil fir my drawing.

Our potted basil plant

Our basil plant is grow very well in its pot and it’s green leaves are actually luscious.  It is a challenging subject for me and I wasn’t able to depict its true beauty. No matter, I made a card!

Pencil and gouache

Note to self

Dreams are free and it is good to dream!

Thanks to Emily, my Sktchy muse.

Heading Home

All star sneakers

Before we headed home yesterday I drew my granddaughters sneaker on an index card. My car read 33C!!!! I’ve never recall seeing it that high.  Ugh! We live in an old house without AC, thankfully all the windows are closed.

Today’s index cards

Here are three cards by my granddaughter and one by me! I bought a Zentangles for Kidz book and I left it out for her.....because she gets up soooo early.  She made these “minions” characters and then I did a “selfie” in that style.  She made a birthday card for me too! How sweet that she has called me an “art maniac”!!!

Happy birthday wishes

No prompt-  art with our granddaughter since we are again together for a family vacation!!

We celebrated my husbands birthday yesterday and she made him a birthday 🎂 Index card! He gets grumpy at times with his PC (I’ve got to get him switched over to a Mac).

The people who rented out their house to us left some stuffed animals so I drew that!

Fence Post Friday

Here we are again, it is Fence Post Friday time!  This is the best Fence Post that I saw for this week!  On our way home from Sauble Beach we stopped so I could put some gas in Bertha.  Since we were only a few kilometres from Eldon’s cousins house we made a stop at this beautiful laneway and farmhouse.  I was thrilled to get this snap! We continued on our way home using the back roads until we couldn’t anymore. It was a perfect day for a drive in the country especially since Bertha had a full tank.

Winsor & Newton transparent orange

Now that I’ve swatched these two together, I’ll be going out to buy a new Winsor and Newton tube!

The DS paint swatch on the left looks like it could be a granulating colour but I think that it is just the paper pilling; it is only an index card after all.

Beach souvenirs

I brought some pebbles home from Southampton so I thought I would draw them.  I used DS Bronzite Genuine as the sand colour

My new pocket palette

Here is my abbreviated version of colour chart, I swatched the paint colours in my brand new pocket palette that I made today.

The question mark is a spot that I could put something in if I could make it small enough for that tiny spot!

Pen and watercolour on an index card

Wiarton Willie

Wiarton Willie, a Canadian albino groundhog prognosticator (love this word, so much better than predictor).  We enjoyed our visit to Wiarton a few days ago and I bought a postcard of Willie by photographer Sue Aiston.  It sparked this ICAD (Index card a day).  Each February 2, his role is to predict whether there will be an early spring.

ICAD art for today

We have been out and about today being tourists.  My granddaughter and I made these earlier this morning.

Mine is Sktchy inspired and made with kiddo art supplies.  Her favourite is the card illustrating her art tools.

Port Elgin

We had a super day at the beach! We took a drive to Port Elgin to attend a local craft show and sale.

I enjoyed our lunch at The Wismer; formerly Dr Lachlan Wismers home.  I was sitting in a perfect spot for sketching and I painted it while we were still there.

In 1907 the library was given a grant of$8000 by Andrew Carnegie who is called the Patron Saint if Libraries!  Originally it had been a hotel but the owner sold it for $300 so it could be the site for the new free library.

Fishing on Sauble River

It was a gloomy foggy day so my husband, granddaughter, son-in-law and I went fishing on a bridge over the Sauble River.

Okay so I drew my sketchbook and took snaps.

My hubby had some lovely green wigglers that got nibbled but no bites.
