Drawing with Danny Gregory

my hubby was released from the hospital and he is now convalescing at our daughters house as she had fewer stairs.  Happy to report that he has moved from a walker to a cane.  Yes, slow and steady wins the game.

I played alone with Danny Gregory- “Draw with Me” Thursday. Free on YouTube almost every Thursday. Today it was draw what you have in your pocket.

Sadly my facial tissue (unused) looks horrid! Oh well, it was enjoyable list to his voice and drawing along.

My husband’s progress

I haven’t been arting much these days since my husband was unexpectedly admitted to hospital. As you can see here he is much better and scrolling through all his emails on his laptop.  Today will be day 16 of his hospital stay. He had an allergic reaction to the medium used for a CT scan he had on February 8th. He is so allergic his heart stopped; luckily he was in the emergency at the hospital already and they put him on life support.  He swelled up all over his body but his head looked like a pumpkin.  He is getting physio to relearn how to walk after being sedated for 7 days.  The sedated created a lot of confusion in his mind but he coming around to the fact that he was not beaten up by a gang of creeps in an alleyway (but by the nurses and doctors in emergency trying to get his heart restarted!).

I wasn’t intending to draw him, it all started with the Dixie cup but happy to record his progress in my pocket Stillman and Birn sketchbook.

Abstract fun

Inspired by the free series of  lessons offered by Tracy Verdugo

Hello! I woke up this morning before the crack of dawn and decided needed some stress relief.  I’m not an abstract artist but this way of filling a blank page really appealed to me.  I am working in my sketchbook because I don’t have time for much else right now. I used the word FUN because I need some right now and the word fit in the grids.  I think this is just so creatively inspirational.  I’m not going to put any more layers on this page because I want to remember how I did this for use in the future.

I used a cheap sketchbook with Liquitex black, raw and burnt sienna.  Looking forward to trying out the cruciform.

My favourite square is the donkey with seven legs bottom right!!  Love how that happened

Cristo - Rio de Janeiro

This is an envelope that will be going to Sandra in Nottinghamshire UK.  I still have Rio on my mind so the subject matter was easy!! Since this is an envelope I used Liquitex acrylic gouache, cheap craft paint and gesso.

Torrential Rain

I’m so glad I packed a plastic rain poncho as we had a torrential downpour last night.  This is the tiny police station that is neR the restaurant last night.  They are dotted all Ali g the beach area.

The Ipanema Hippie Market

We went to the “Hippie Market” yesterday to buy some souvenirs; I’ve said it before that being a tourist is thirsty work.  After visiting the numerous stalls (they say 700), we stopped for a beer beside this taxi stand.  Honestly there are a yellow taxis here, makes it really easy to find one. #ipanema #brasil #lovebrasil
