Paper Problems

Here are two faces from the Sktchy app. Can you imagine my disappointment when I ruined the drawings from overworking the paper and ruining the drawings. I won't even post to Sktchy.  Just posting because this is what I did today (just the one on the left though).  I'm experimenting with Tombow markers and not having much luck with my choice of paper.  The one on the left is Canson Marker paper wrinkled and warped ; the right on Bristol paper (exact brand Unknown) and the paper pilled. I tried to camouflage it by adding s gridded complexion. Now that didn't work either.

I have other papers to try so I will see what happens.

Making Poinsettia's for my foster daughter

I sponsor a child in Bolivia and I am in the process of getting her Christmas gift and card ready.  When I get an idea, I jump on it while the idea is fresh and still percolating!  I have to send it early because it takes several months to go through the process of getting from here to there.

The dark flower is made using a tea bag and a book text underlay. I used Inktense pencils for the paint. The larger bright one was painted directly on to vintage book text with Crayola Pip Squeaks markers. Bother were highlighted with gold marker and sprayed with gold glitter.

I would like to make one more and I think I will go back to the cheap Crayola markers even if there is bleed through the paper underlay. I used matte gel medium to adhere the layers!

The bottom one is a transfer of colour when the Intense pencils bleed-through the tea bag. I think I'll cut it out and stick it in my sketchbook. I want my flowers to be of different sizes for my mail out so I have one more to make.

Opera House Gravenhurst Ontario

I met with a sketching buddy that I met through Sketchbook Skool. She is vacationing an hour north of me in Gravenhurst Ontario so I took a lovely drive and met up with her.

We had a great lunch directly across the street. I didn't get this quite finished as I had to head back home. But we both had a good time!

Summer sandals!

Another beautiful day here in Ontario🇨🇦 but it is clear that Autumn is only just around the corner. Hot days but colder nights. Oh well it is what it is but I still lament the change in the season as I have loved this summer!! I know that I will have to retire these sandals sooner rather than later. I do wish I would have thought about the design of this page a bit more but this is what I did today.  Happy, I have room for some personal journalling as well!

Oh .....can I just mention that I hate my feet! In fact, generally i have a foot aversion so drawing and painting mine made me cringe a bit!!!  However these are my fave sandals that I bought stateside earlier this summer.

Flying Cloud

I hadn't intended to draw anything today but had to pull over when I saw this Airstream parked at shopping plaza I was driving past.  Oh my..... The art of driving  a Flying Cloud!memories of owning an Airstream.... I wish we still had it! I used pen and ink then applied permanent and Tombow markers!

A Sktchy face of Elizabeth

Lots of mistakes made but it is what it is!! I chose this photo because i knew that it would be a challenge!

Tattoo Exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum

We went to see the tattoo exhibit at the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) and went across the street for a "beverage" afterwards. I drew this during drinks and dinner!

It is quite the building! A fusion of new with the old!

I ran out of water in my water brush so I didn't quite finish but I'm happy with it regardless!!

The Doctors House -Hawkestone

Well I couldn't make a silk purse from a sows ear! I hated my drawing do much because I didn't measure! I drive by this house often on my way to town and just thought I would give it a go yesterday. It is such a square building and at the top of a hill just north of the village at the crossroad. Since it is in my sketchbook, I was going to just turn the page and move on....lesson learned. This morning I decided to embrace the ugliness and go with it. It was a dull grey afternoon in reality but I decided to use my artistic licence to added vintage paper clouds and blue skies. It is what it is, a drawing. Now I can turn the page and move on!
