Thieving gulls

I got this cool shot of a gull grabbing a slice of bread from someone behind me!  Then there was the aftermath of his “friends” creating a ruckus on the beach!  He flew in front of me trying to escape with his prize!  My recommendation is that you don’t eat on the beach.  These birds are voracious and persistent!!

Land of sun and fun Sauble Beach

A day late posting this

At the beach

I spent a few hours at the beach and I just loved the colour of the water and the sound of the waves!

I love watching people at the beach, they are always interesting.  I had to laugh when I was watching my husband, our son-in-law and granddaughter off in the distance.  At that time, she seemed to be always doing hand stands in the water.

I loved the two little kids that had on similar outfits being watched by their grandmother.  I just thought their outfits were an unusual colour but it certainly went well with her hat!

I tried to get the silly gull to look like one.  This one was hoping for a morsel.  I never eat at the beach.  Back in the day we always called them dump ducks because they sometimes inadvertently dump some fo-do on you!!

Sheep farm

I finally had some down time and since it’s Friday the highway is busy with cottagers heading out of the big city.  So, I took a very short drive to a small farm two concession roads north of us.  I was so happy to park my car in the shade of a huge maple tree.

I was thinking that these sheep need to get their winter coats cut off soon.  I couldn’t get them to pose for me but that’s okay.  I enjoyed trying to make them look like sheep with their dirty winter fleece.

I used a 24 pack of Faber Castell oil pastels that I got in a clearance bin.  I really really enjoyed using them even if they spit nasty crumbs all over the place.  Thankfully I was standing outside and had no trouble getting rid.  I didn’t have a rag to clean the tips but I’m okay with it.

No-sew sketchbook/journal

Thanks Lydia Rink (she is over on IG and uTube and of course here on FB) for the free class.  I made this book this morning from leftover paper and her clear instructions.  I didn’t have long enough paper in white to use as a cover so I used some off white in order to include the spine.  Very fun!  If you want to make this no-sew journal check out Lydia’s page for the link to her free class.

I did some mark making on the cover and used some stamps I made from styrofoam veggie trays.

Lily Pads on index card

Another experiment that took its time in the making.

I had lily pads on my mind and thought I would give it a go! I stitched on some of the lily’s and pads so they would look like they were floating.

I’m happy with the results even if I couldn’t get it made the way I had originally thought it might look like.   To pack the card away I just nestled the lily pad’s up against each other.
