Games from the tiny green Caravan

This page has taken me many mornings to complete.

I’m taking an on-line class with Tansy Hargan (found her on IG and she has a website).  I wasn’t sure I was going to like this lesson but I ended up enjoying it so very much!  I’m normally a representational artist so this piece was super fun.  I chose green as a nod to her work and the name of this class.  Besides we are well into the green grass of spring.  This is a mix of watercolour and gouache.  I was thrilled that I found a few interesting shapes as well besides circles.

First time for everything

My hubby went to visit with “the boys” so I had a visit with our family in the big city!
This actually happened and so it seems the old adage “real life is stranger than fiction”.
I am short on time again so I tried to make this into a cartoon.

Peacocks

I really must stop complaining, one day it’s “poor me” and the next day it’s YIPPEE!!

No one is as surprised as we are to see this couple of peacocks back in our yard.  Funnily enough, I thought I heard their call yesterday when I got home from town.  I looked around, checked the trees too and only saw a crow.  Then this morning voilĂ  these beauties have returned.

Oh yes, this is the first long weekend of summer, Victoria Day long weekend that we call May TWO-FOUR long weekend (A 24 is a case of beer).  I’m not a big beer drinker but I did go to the liquor store yesterday to beat the crush of people.

Cardinal Pop

I love our Cardinal, really.…I do!! I love to see him so much in the dead of winter for his bright red feathers in our monochrome landscape.  What I don’t love is his poo dripping down the side of my car.  I think this is a young one who has finally matured because we haven’t had this problem for two years.

So I had to go out and buy some bandana’s to cover the side mirrors.  I threw the ones we had in the garbage because I thought he had given up on the practice.  Perhaps not, perhaps this is the off spring of the last one we had here that did the same thing!

Now I’m looking at this I didn’t finish my train if thought.  If you’re wondering what that mass if dark green, my parking spot is in front of this cedar tree.

Don’t change the cereal brand

It appears I have made a big mistake when it comes to purchasing cheaper breakfast cereals!  Regrettably, cheaper isn’t always better.  Ugh!

Can you guess what my so called “work-a-round” might be?!!!?  My family gets disgusted when I do this but I don’t care.

Hummingbirds and Two-nies

No prompt-  Nothing special about todays but it is what it is.  I’m so thrilled to see that the hummingbirds are back. It’s going down to 6C again tonight though.  Poor things!
Because I know me, I know I’m often a procrastinator extraordinaire, I’ve decided to “get on it” this time.  I’m going to get my winter coat cleaned now.  I didn’t bother cleaning it at the start of the pandemic because I wasn’t wearing it except to shop once a week.  Not a lot of chance to get it dirty.

So I got this coin in some change.  I never look at my change when I get it, I just stuff it in my pocket. I decided to roll up all the “two-nies” (our $2 coin) and realized that I had a coin from the Philippines.  Oh well, I still had enough real ones to roll it up.

Pink Gin

Today’s page:  Since I’m retired, I like to denote the end of the week with an adult libation as if I was still working.

Before this bottle gets recycled, I thought I should record it.  I can’t recall exactly how much it cost but I remember gulping when I put it in the cart. It was almost as much as the bottle of Scotch my hubby drinks. I kinda avoided the truth when he asked the price. I didn’t want to admit to my folly.

Anyway, it’s done and I have a new one that it waiting in the wings.  It takes me a long time to get through them so I don’t recall the price of the next one but it wasn’t cheap either. Sigh. With the way prices are rising, I had best enjoy now as there is a distinct possibility that the end is near for these decadent libations.

Drawn using watercolour pencils, gold markers, and sparkly pink watercolours.  I know you can’t see the sparkle but it’s there.

Sewing Meditation

I’ve been mostly stitching these days.  I joined a postcard mail art swap and this one will be heading out to Austria this afternoon.

I was inspired by seesarastitch over on IG and took a mixed media textile class with her.  It was fun and this is where I ended up.  I’m happy with my postcard and I hope Antje is too!

I haven’t done loads of embroidery work since I started my first sampler when I was 12 years old (and never finished it).  Somehow I find the simple act of pulling thread through the fabric layers very calming during these turbulent times.

Just so you know, the embroidered heart looks better in real life.

Crochet Cotton

I was really happy to find this purple cotton,  I don’t know how much it is at the craft store but I’m sure it would have been more than a $1.
