A week at a glance

Here is what I did for the rest of the week;  I had posted s partial week earlier

Ready Player One

We are visiting family again so here is my #lunchbox_art for my granddaughter lunch tomorrow. We have a friend who has an “Ernie” and he is such a fun dog!  I’m sure that my granddaughter will make the connection! However, I think she is a bit young to know anything about this movie.

New shoes for our trip

Need I say more! Pen and gouache in my Stillman and Birn Delta sketchbook.

Happy Fence Post Friday

Happy Fence Post Friday everyone!  The snow is ugly but that is awesome because it is MELTING!

A new pocket novel

Such an interesting book in the physical sense! I hope I enjoy reading it in the literary sense but the story line does appeal to me!  However, the main point of interest is the size!

I couldn’t help buying it even though I could have done so on-line.  There is something about a physical book that appeals to me more!

We had a new sliding glass door installed today so this had to be done very early this morning.  The crew did a lovely job! Thank gawd it was sunny and a high of 6C today!!

Not a Warhol Soup can

If Andy Warhol had been a Canuck he “might” have painted this soup can......hmmmmm.... then again, perhaps not.

This can has always been a staple in our house as far back as I can remember!

Tiny Drawings and book binding

Another week short on time to make art so doing the next best thing.... a week in tiny drawings!! I’m book binding so it takes up a large portion of my art making time. Drawings in my Stillman and Birn sketchbook; looking forward to working in these.  I had best make more to get me through this summer.  I don’t like to make sketchbooks in the heat; I would have to wear gloves and I don’t want to do that, I wear gloves enough all winter.

Stickers are from Red Bubble with a cheap label in the centre.

Two types of paper: Strathmore Aquarius II and an unknown to me brand, Soho 101 Maruman.  I bought a pad of it in the big city because I had never seen it before.  I hope it works well.

Selfie in graphite

Selfie in graphite-  I had forgotten how much time it takes to work in pencil!!  Oh well, it was worth the effort even though I drew another wonky self.  But then again.... I made a drawing!  To me, I have the kind of face that says I’m in pain but I’m not; just concentrating while I’m staring at myself in the mirror. My Stillman and Birn sketchbook isn’t really suited to pencil but it is what it is!  2 pencils a HB and 2B

Tiny artworks

This artwork measures 2” X 3” and is one of the smallest portraits I have ever done! I used coloured pencils, pen, and markers on a wooden plank.  This piece will be going to a woman in France for an art exchange that I signed up for!

Week 10 - “Let’s Face It”

This is what I did during the time I had available for art today.

I used my granddaughters kiddo pencil in my Stillman and Birn sketchbook. I didn’t have a blending stump so I just used my finger.

We did actually edit at this restaurant across the street.  I have to say that our “dawgs” were tired each and every day that we spend in this sunny warm (okay boot) city.  We really enjoyed our trip to Oaxaca, Mexico and I did art every day but I didn’t post here.  Just too busy and then too tired.

Another Let’s Face It drawing

This one didn’t work out the way I had hoped. I think it is mostly due to the paper in my Stillman and Birn sketchbook.  It is good enough paper for simple watercolour and acrylic ink techniques but can’t take too much abuse when it comes to nursing lots of water and attempting to lift the pigment from the paper.

Oh well, I made some art and that is what counts. I wanted tho do this because when I was a young girl I saw a woman who had a flowered bathing cap and I really really wanted one.  I never did get one but this reference photo reminded me of that woman so very long ago.

I used glitter glue for the flower centres and her earrings.

Good sunny Fence Post Friday everyone! This sun is shining brightly this morning and that always makes me happy!  This is not my favourite fence post sighting for this week but  the fencing is still attached to the metal post.  I especially liked the lighting on the barn in the late afternoon. Have a good weekend everyone!!

Thinking about spring

Thanks so much for your awesome robin red-breast, our landscape is still very black and white but there is sunshine today so there is  hope for some warmer temperatures.  It is -17C here this morning and with the windchill it is -22C so I need positive thoughts that it will actually warm up tomorrow as forecasted. Poor little robin I had previously masked off the rectangle so I had to squeeze him in the frame.

I’m liking this page a bit more each time I look at it.  I’m taking a year long collage class with Carla Sonheim to try and push myself into creating more imaginary-like drawings.  In this case, coll helps to acheive that end.
