Wilbur

My muse is courtesy of Heidi from Sktchy.  I drew Wilbur on a mono-printed index card  gouache and black gesso.

Piggy art on index card

I had fun making a little piggy on my gel-printed index card with acrylic gouache and black gesso. With thanks to Heidi from Sktchy for the cute Muse.

I got the jab!

I wasn’t happy that the only appointment I could get at the mass vaccination centre was in July.  Decided to do something about that; I checked out the standby lists at drugstores without success, then I tried the Vaccine Hunters website!!!  Plunked in my postal code and voila a list of participating pharmacies in my area. I got my second dose after lunch today at a tiny pharmacy in the east end of town.  Easy parking, no line up and no waiting! Perfect!

The Drawing Lesson

I was checking my bookshelf and pulled this one down.  This is actually a lesson book for a young person but I found it good for me too.  I like the way the drawings through out book make learning so easy and enjoyable.  I’ll be handing it down to my granddaughter.

The Colts Centre

I had to drop my husband off at an appointment and the parking lot was being dug up so I drove a few streets over and sat in the empty lot here.

I’m not a hockey kind of gal and I’ve only been in this bar once with the people from work. I have been in the arena but it was for a Christmas art and craft sale.  Anyway, the Barrie Colts hockey team are a big deal around here.  I almost got the page finished when my husband called; just did some touch ups at home.

New tomato varieties

One of my husbands friends dropped of a bunch of tomato plants in these red solo cups.  I’ve never heard of any of these varieties.

Thread lightly

Here is my thread lightly.  Poor little bird appeared with a bulbous head and extra long beak and with wings to small to let it fly.

It was fun!

Attempting Felix Scheinberger style

Trying to channel Felix Scheinberger.  I had to use my non-dominant hand to achieve a more expressive line with pen and paint.  Thanks to Marie my Sktchy muse for an interesting pose. I finally found a brown ink that I like.  I treated myself to a bottle of d’Atramentis, it has a warmth to it that I prefer.

New clothes

I am very excited to think that maybe, just maybe I’ll be able to wear non-COVID clothes soon.  I’m happy to say that I am ready, nowhere to go yet but I’m ready to ditch my jeans!

Dip pen workshop

I took a workshop with Danny Gregory and Sketchbook Skool.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I learned to write with the dip pen way back in the day.  I decided to use my mother’s tea cup instead of the reference photo supplied and the recommended Bristol paper.  Our non-essential stores only opened on Friday and this workshop was on Saturday so I decided to use what I have.  I used Canson XL marker paper super thin 24 lb but sturdy and takes a beating. It also makes for good collage paper.

Pen cleaning

Today I took apart this pen to clean it since I haven’t used it for awhile.

A big lazy today so I didn’t colour the whole page.

Snail mail goodies

I got a totally awesome snail mail package this week!! I was going to just take a snap of everything and post; then I thought…..naw….there’s no fun in that! So here is an illustration in my sketchbook of all the goodies I received.

Thanks Edwina Faith Elliott  for the “art swap”but I think I got the better end of the deal!  Look at that COFFEE soap! Some of you will know how much I love my coffee! The Miramichi soap smells absolutely fabulous too.
Thanks for your art card and your painted business card too (very cool)!  Looking forward to using your products.

If anyone wants to support a small business, I invite you to check out their Instagram page for more info and go to their myshopify site.  Edwina is a Canadian entrepreneur!

ICAD-contraption

My husband had an operation on his right hand and he is having some difficulty doing many things since he is right handed.  He wanted burgers and neither one of us thought about the fact that you need two hands to eat it!  Here is my solution; a gizmo to help him.  I’ll be sending this to my granddaughter to make her laugh!
