Picasso postcard

I absolutely ❤️ yes LOVE seeing the flag up on our mailbox!  I was happy to get this postcard from Belgium.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen this painting before; on the back of the card it says that the original is held in a private collection.

I added a short lyric from the Black Crows because I think she needed to be doing something.  Birds can be angels too!

Darkwater Gin

Yesterday evening I tried this new locally made gin, made in Ontario.  Well, Collingwood is an hour northwest of us but they are in Simcoe county so I view that as “local”.

I have to say that I really enjoyed the flavour of this gin. It is different from my favourite peach flavoured tiple.   I love that it is blue as the water in Georgian Bay!  I’m glad it isn’t a dry gin since the blue colour is a nod to the cool wet waters of the bay.

Dedicated Roses

OMG! This is the gloomiest winter ever!  Ugh! Really hard to get a decent photo on yet another grey day. Take pity on us Mother Nature and send us a couple of days of sun!

I think I should have picked something way more colourful but I wanted to paint the rises before they make their way to the green box.

Pretty in Pink

Okay, this isn’t the type of art I normally do but I enjoyed my time making it.  I was inspired by a flannel square that I found in a bag that I got at the used goods store.  You know how it is; I wanted something else in the bag and had to take the bad with the good.  No matter, I have a use for it coming soon.  Anyway, I have it documented in my sketchbook.

Down memory lane

This is a walking down memory lane sort of spread.

Thant Electrolux was a metal beast and built like a tank.  I think my mother might have bought it from a door-to-door salesman! Memories are a curious thing; I had almost forgotten about it.

Once upon a time a very long time ago, I skipped school with my friends.  I’m not sure who was there other than my best friend who lived close by.  I wasn’t allowed to have anyone in the house without permission but i did it anyway.  We had a nice fire going and a good time was had until it was late afternoon.  They went home and I had to clean up.  I thought I’d best clear out the fireplace so my mother wouldn’t know I had defied the rules. Foolishly, I sucked up the ashes not realizing that there were some hot coals underneath.  The evidence I tried to hide became clear when my parents came home from work.  The vacuum cleaner was prominently displayed in the snowbank at the front door.
Funny how I don’t recall what my punishment was but likely I was “grounded” for a period of time.  I was often grounded but then again I still “got away” with loads of stuff.

Christmas Cactus is blooming again

What a fabulous surprise that my Christmas cactus had produced yet another flower!  I’m beyond tickled pink! I’ve turned the pot around because this bloom was hidden from view!

The last glass bottle

Is this the end of “Royal warrant” for licenced products?! Will King Charles continue the tradition?  Personally,  I think it is unlikely but he could surprised me.

At the store, this was in fact the last glass bottle on the shelf.  It appears the new shipment is a plastic container and without the crown logo on the label.

My favourite tiple

Today I documented my current favourite tiple!  I’m glad I used an art supply that I haven’t used for quite a long time.

I hope that everyone had a good weekend.  I’m thrilled that we actually had 2 days back to back of sun! It had been such a long time.

Bagged milk

So this is my question, is bagged milk popular elsewhere in Canada or in the USA and elsewhere on this planet?! Are Ontarians really unique consuming milk in this format?  Inquiring minds need to know.

New purse

I just love my new purse that I bought the other day at the “used stuff” store.  I’m happy that my regular sketchbook will fit in it.  The rose gold metallic paint I used on my new RFID wallet is quite bright!
