Gouache travel palette

Thanks to Sktchy for the inspiration.  I’m making a travel palette for my gouache and thought I would give these contact lenses containers a go.  Not sure if they will work well but happy to try it anyway.  The left eye will be the lighter of the two paints. I mixed Prussian blue in with the Ivory black. WOW, the W&N Bengal Rose is super bright!! I used an asterisk stamp for my frame.  Fun! #BL-29

Creative Flow

We live in an old farmhouse (over 100 years) between two cities.  Back in the day farmers used to bury their garbage.  Every once in awhile we unearth something.  Here is an old tap that I tried to draw!

I love how this index card ended up because it just “happened”!

Pen and gouache then I added Stickles glitter for the water

Vanilla

I made this on Monday and now I’ll be caught up posting!

A little factoid that I recall seeing on the television awhile back and then was inspired to draw my vanilla bottle.  The money is in CDN$$$

Pen watercolour and Kuretake Starry metallic watercolours for some shimmer. Stamps with added Gold dust Stickles.

I love a sucker

Yesterday we drove home so this was a quick one!  Happy that the sucker/lollipop inspired this card!

Every time I have one it reminds me of my childhood and the times I would lick my sucker, lay on the grass in the backyard and watch the sky: look at the clouds and find dogs and cats and fish living up there!!

Every sucker brings back happy memories!!

The Legend

Arting every day but behind on posting.  Saturdays index card.

We went to an exhibition of Inuit art at the Ontario Art Gallery in the big city of Toronto.  This is my rendition of Tim Pitsiulak beautiful image of a shaman in the process of transformation.  Tim belonged to people who originally had an oral tradition and this is his vision of the legend he heard as a child. (coloured pencil and graphite on black paper).

A lightbulb moment

Today’s sketch is on an index card with a previously prepared background with vintage dictionary page.  My fairy godmother gifted to me some Kuretake Tambi Gansai metallic watercolours - I love their shimmer

Flat Broke

I was following this flat bed truck on the highway this afternoon as I was making my way to get my Bertha her oil change. It tickled my sense of humour as I love a double entendre!

Pen and marker and gouache on an index card.

Triumph

Found magazine text - “The victories that fill us with Triumph” - I made the index card bagkground yesterday and detested it so I made another.  Today I thought that it might be easier to create a “card” with the background already made.  I used toile, organza, dryer sheet and recycled papers from around the house. Then I thought the hand stitched sequins might be an interesting element.

Rare ICAD

Abstract #2 for today’s card.

Thanks Tammy for your video inspiration.  I had cut out some magazines images that were mildly abstract and threw them in a box awhile back.  Today, I opened it up and found an interesting textile image and my word.  In the same little box was the foiled circle already painted with alcohol ink.  It is true, I rarely make abstract art because it really requires a lot more thought and preparation.

The biggest thing for me about making abstract art is I just never really know if I have done enough or maybe I’ve actually done too much.  Regardless, I’m done for today!!

Red tomato

Working on alternate surfaces..... This tomato called out to me to paint it....so I did! I fleshed out the idea of the joke but got some assistance from my hubby to get it the way it is now.  Our granddaughter likes to tell jokes and I can’t wait to tell her this one when we see her next.

Pen and gouache on an index card.

Caramel Flan ICAD #16

The inspiration for today’s was yesterday’s sweet treat! Okay so I got them (a pack of two) at the grocery store for 50% off too.  Plus, I will use it as my new painting water jars.

The card was previously prepared with the vintage book paper.

Metallic bow index card

My inspiration fir this came from a cheap plastic foil-like bow my daughter had in her fruit bowl.  I wasn’t in love with my drawing in water soluble ink when I added the water.  The lines all bled and bloomed on the cheap index card.  This morning I tried to save it with the black marker background and the metallic purple marker. Still not satisfied so added some polka dot to break up all that black!

My first Bento Box

We had a wonderful lunch today at a newly opened Japanese restaurant called Backyard at 254 Queen St W, Toronto Ontario.  I highly recommend it.... it was yummy and the service impeccable!  So loved my very FIRST Bento Box.

In my handmade sketchbook with Strathmore Aquarius II paper.

Camping tool

Lunch box art

Awhile back we were babysitting our granddaughter so I would draw and paint pictures of animals and stuff them in her lunch bag.  Today she asked me to create a painting for her lunchbox again.

We saw a female snapping turtle looking to find that perfect spot to spawn this morning so I drew a turtle; one of few remaining dinosaurs!

Kenojuak Ashevak

I have loved Inuit art since I first saw some when I lived in Labrador and then again when I went to Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.  A wonderful visit to the land of the Midnight Sun!!

Kenojuak Ashevak is a Canadian Inuit artist born Baffin Island October 3, 1927 died June 8, 2013 Cape Dorset Nunavut Canada

I really liked what she had to say about her art!!

“I just take things out of my thoughts.  I concentrate on placing it down on paper in a way that is pleasing to my own eye, whether it has anything to do with subjective reality or not”.

I wish I could have captured the loveliness of her graphic bold style.  Pen and Gouache on an index card (I’ve joined the index card challenge).

Abstract

I struggled with this one because I don’t have a solid foundation in abstract art.  I knew I had any to take the fluorescent Turner gouache for another go round and thought abstract would fit sigh the paint colour. The text was perfect because up until that time I wasn’t really loving this card.

Plus white gesso, cheap black paint and black/white Posca pen markers

Turner Gouache -Index Card Art

I’m in the process of putting another gouache palette together.  I don’t know much about this gouache but I purchased some because they were fluorescent.  I really liked the fact that this pro series doesn’t smell!  I used the eraser end if an old pencil as my stamp for the frame.

Index Card Art

I love my Dog

Thanks to Hank from the Sktchy app for this photo for today’s “tell a story” segment.  The background is quite dark and it is my first print that I made a few days ago.  I wasn’t going to add the text but I’m glad as I like the page better with it. Gouache and some Posca pen markers.

Alternate Surfaces-ICAD

Alternate surfaces- working on creating index card art.  Thanks to Big Al from the Sktchy app for the photo; I love sunshine on a cloudy day so I thought it might fit!!! I’ve used my index card to picked up some paint off my gel plate and used a hot coffee cup sleeve to add some marks and used a lime bag as a stencil for the little squares.  Big Al collaged on top. I just bought a couple of Posca pen markers and they work wonderfully over top of acrylic paint.
