Cat and Mouse

Thanks ValĂ©rie for the fun photo!  These two almost look "friendly" in your photo! I must remind myself that not all things found have been lost! It made me think of Saturday morning cartoons!! Platinum Carbon desk pen and Noodlers Dark Matter ink painted on with a brush.  #found #inktober #inktober2017

Here is my Nelleke Verhoeff inspired illustration.

The drawing is based on the old rhyme:

"There once was a girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead,
When she was good she was very very good,
When she was bad, she was horrid".

No clapping.....I've fallen

Thanks to Sktchy for this seriously fun reference. How I love putting serous snd fun words together!! I like how the blue came out on the ceiling and floor when water was added.  I used a #Staedtler "cool roller" pen and brushed on the water. I went in directly with the pen so my drawing is slightly wonky but I'm diggin' it! #fall #inktober #inktober2017

Kranky Parrot and Chicken Image transfer

Here's my first completed drawing of a parrot using: ballpoint, Platinum Carbon desk pen and Derwent Inktense blocks for colour.

I don't know how s parrot might #squeak but that is today's theme.  #inktober #inktober2017

I tried something new today....wasn't sure if it would work but I gave it a twirl!  I am in the process of getting my cards out in the mail for Hanna Andersson postcard swap and remembered that I hadn't sealed my watercolour and ink cards.  So....out came the gelli-plate once again!  I dabbed on some Golden Open matte medium and brayered it over the plate.  Stuck the watercolour card on top firmly and brayered again with a clean brayered. I was surprised that there was a ghost print left behind.  I had some art tissue paper so I used it to transfer the print.  How about that?!  Now I have the beginnings of a sketchbook page!!

Wonderful things can come in small packages

This was just so much fun! As soon as I saw her name I kne I was going to draw your photo Deb When I was a kid we had a standard Poodle we named Lulu.  We "rescued" her from being chained up in a barn in Belgium and she smelled like it too!!  I had to sit in the back seat of the car when we took her home for her first bath. Thanks for the memory!! I used almost every type of ink I have: Platinum Carbon desk pen and Higgins Eternal black ink, Bombay brown India ink, FW acrylic Indian yellow, 4 in 1 Bic ballpoint X2 #ship #inktober #inktober2017

Brown Bunny Postcard

After I started this drawing I thought, why did I??? This isn't my first time drawing this little brown bunny so I should've known better. Then I got a phone call from a friend so I worked on the texture of the fur while we talked. I'm not sure I'm quite done but will figure that before I mail it away for the postcard swap.  Fabriano Artistico hot press postcard. Micron pen .05 and Bombay brown ink applied with a brush.  #bunny #rabbit #inktober #inktober2017

Childhood memory of playing in the rain

Thanks to Kimberly from Sktchy for the inspirational photo of a great childhood memory! It was always such a thrill when my mother would let me play in the #teeming rain! No prompt-  Thanks to Sktchy for this lovely bunny rabbit portrait.  This is 4 of 10 postcards I have made for a swap I'm in.  I thought I was going to do a pen with ink wash card but then I got in the zone so finished the drawing with just ink line work. Now to decide if I should colour in the background of leave as is. Micron .01 on Fabriano Artistico cold press postcard.

Lamb Postcard for Swap 2/10

Thanks Mariah for posting your little lammie photo on Sktchy (the Sktchy app).  I did this in my sketchbook awhile ago but decided I liked it so much that I should do it again for a postcard swap I'm involved with - 2/10.  In case it isn't clear, "Lambs Quarter" is a garden variety weed; it isn't noxious but it is prolific. Pen drawing, gouache and poster paint on an acrylic ink wash background on Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton 5 X 7 postcard.  I hope the recipient will like it!

I certainly had fun making it regardless.

Thanks go out to Jacob from Sktchy for the photo that I am using for today's theme #crooked I've done this in my sketchbook before but wanted to create it again for the postcard  swap I'm in. This is 3/10, drawing done on an acrylic ink wash background with black Staedtler water soluble cool roller pen. #jnktober2017 I added some watercolour to the ink. Paper is Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton cold press postcard.

Finally, I used the bottle of Scrip ink for Inktober

#inktober2017

Didn't think I would get a drawing done today but I've surprised myself!!  Sktchy inspired - Shy!!

I used Skrip ink that I found at a charity shop;  I haven't used it since grade 3!  I had loads of fun with this perspective.

#Long Thanks go to Sloane from Sktchy for the photo.  This one is a bit of this and that; I started with one pen and wasn't happy then I tried another and it was dry and so was the next one so I had to go back to the Elegant Writer to finish up. #inktober2017

We are in the big city babysitting our grand-daughter so we made use of the day to head downtown to the passport office to renew our passports.

Here is a drawing I did in a mini book I had in my purse while we waited our turn.

On our way down to the passport office we saw this restaurant when the streetcar was stopped and my hubby was interested in the "Flight of Vodka".  We each bought a different vodka to sample.  We both preferred a relatively cheaper potato vodka from Poland. It had a sweeter taste with a slight vanilla flavour.  Very nice.

So all in all, we had a good day!  Got our grand-daughter off to school with her mother and then had some time to ourselves to enjoy what Toronto has to offer.
