Visiting family

Meet Maxine (or Max for short) the cheetah! My little grand-daughters newest addition to her stuffed animal menagerie.

Trying out this new sketchbook by Cottonwood Arts. I thought I might not like it as the paper is super smooth. However, as it turns out I like how the watercolour floats on the paper!

My grand-daughter wasn't so sure that she liked the green paint even though that is the colour of her living room walls.

This is the drawing I did for The Daisy Yellow Index card a Day! It is my grand-daughters baseball cap. When you are born and raised in Toronto, of course you have a Blue Jays cap even if you are only 3 years old!

My entry in Kristen's sketchbook

I am still taking on-line classes with Sketchbook Skool dot com and enjoying every minute! I joined a sketchbook exchange with some other students and this is the final entry in Kristen's book. I will be mailing it out to her today! Yippee! What fun!

Trendy Queen St W

We had a chance to walk along the new trendy part of Queen St W in Toronto. We stopped for a bite of lunch and I had fun drawing the interior leading to the open air of the street. The pitcher of white sangria was yummy and so was the curried chicken at the Harlem Undergrounf restaurant.

Sketchbook Skool homework

These gems have been calling out to me recently so I took them out of the cupboard to paint. When my back was turned the house fairy's must have been up to some mischief and released one from the confines of the box! I figured I might as well draw it too! Oh no, I couldn't help myself but have s wee bite!  Then I justified my actions by saying to myself that I would do Danny's homework - finally! It is homework from the last Sketchbook Skool klass that I took called Bootkamp.  I didn't think it would be fun to do but it was!!

I've made a new friend

It is so nice to meet someone through my art! I drew this car and Marta commented on Sketchbook Skool FB group page. She use to have one if these "back in the day". I had tagged my drawing to Gutherie arena and she actually looked it up via the map.  Although she is from Miami Florida she has a bestie who lives in Barrie! How cool is that! I am so glad I opted to tag this photo to the location.

Sketching Bliss

KI went down the highway and stopped at a teeny tiny car lot that use to be a gas station and a restaurant. I didn't realize that there was a fella on-site. I was there a long time before Rocco came to see what I was doing. He liked my picture and he says it would be okay for me to return to get different angles.

It took me and hour and a half to draw and paint the 1952 Pontiac.

The Canada Goose Family outing

I was featured over on Instagram by
Pocket Canada for this totally "by chance" photo. It was a bit chilly yesterday but a perfect day for a walk. I had an appointment in town so I walked on the path around the lake. I chanced upon this family and stopped to get this-so cute!

I finally aoplied the watercolour on lunch time drawing I did with Martie at the Green Mango Tree restaurant. I can't believe that we actually were able to get that done befor gobbling up the super delicious rolls!

Sketchbook Skool sketching buddy

Had a wonderful afternoon sketching and drinking in the sunshine in Collingwood with Martie Barth (sorry can't tag you). This is the first time I have ever sketched with someone else. It was so very lovely. In fact, it was so much fun we have made plans to do it again! We decided on the town of Collingwood because it is an hour drive for us both (she from the west and me from the east). Collingwood is located on Georgian Bay and was once a vibrant ship-building town until 1986. They built lake freighters that were narrow enough to go through the locks on the St. Lawrence Seaway.  We picked a spot with a view of the harbour lands just tucked in behind the grain elevator (this is the rear view). Very nice listening to the seagulls while drawing and painting!

ICAD 2015 -index card a day

Yippee! TODAY has finally arrived! And today is the day! Of course it has....everyday is today!  Regardless, the INdex Card a Day project begins. What fun! Leftover Golden Open paints from gelli-plate on magazine page with the found text. Regular acrylic paint background with gelly roll pens on index card.
