The Legend

Arting every day but behind on posting.  Saturdays index card.

We went to an exhibition of Inuit art at the Ontario Art Gallery in the big city of Toronto.  This is my rendition of Tim Pitsiulak beautiful image of a shaman in the process of transformation.  Tim belonged to people who originally had an oral tradition and this is his vision of the legend he heard as a child. (coloured pencil and graphite on black paper).

A lightbulb moment

Today’s sketch is on an index card with a previously prepared background with vintage dictionary page.  My fairy godmother gifted to me some Kuretake Tambi Gansai metallic watercolours - I love their shimmer

Flat Broke

I was following this flat bed truck on the highway this afternoon as I was making my way to get my Bertha her oil change. It tickled my sense of humour as I love a double entendre!

Triumph

Found magazine text - “The victories that fill us with Triumph” - I made the index card bagkground yesterday and detested it so I made another.  Today I thought that it might be easier to create a “card” with the background already made.  I used toile, organza, dryer sheet and recycled papers from around the house. Then I thought the hand stitched sequins might be an interesting element.

Rare ICAD

Abstract #2 for today’s card.

Thanks Tammy for your video inspiration.  I had cut out some magazines images that were mildly abstract and threw them in a box awhile back.  Today, I opened it up and found an interesting textile image and my word.  In the same little box was the foiled circle already painted with alcohol ink.  It is true, I rarely make abstract art because it really requires a lot more thought and preparation.

The biggest thing for me about making abstract art is I just never really know if I have done enough or maybe I’ve actually done too much.  Regardless, I’m done for today!!

Red tomato

Working on alternate surfaces..... This tomato called out to me to paint it....so I did! I fleshed out the idea of the joke but got some assistance from my hubby to get it the way it is now.  Our granddaughter likes to tell jokes and I can’t wait to tell her this one when we see her next.
